Uyo Media Professionals Forum Charges New Officers on Professionalism, Unity

Uyo Senatorial District Media Professionals Forum

The Board of Trustees/Governing Council of the Uyo Senatorial District Media Professionals Forum has charged newly elected officers to uphold professionalism, integrity and discipline as they assume responsibility for the affairs of the organisation.

The charge followed the election of a new executive at the Forum’s 35th Enlarged Meeting, held in accordance with the governing provisions of the organisation.

Mr. Clement Warrie was elected President, with Mr. Charles Akpan emerging Vice President for Uyo Federal Constituency and Deputy President.

Other principal officers include Mr. Edet Ikotidem, Vice President, Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency; Mr. Edidiong Ita, Vice President, Etinan Federal Constituency; Hon. Itorobong Umoh, Secretary; and Itoro-Etas Iniobong, Assistant Secretary.

The Forum also elected Mr. Ukara Effiong as Treasurer, Mr. Victor Preacher as Financial Secretary and Mr. Ubon Marcus as Spokesperson.

The Board said the election followed the expiration of the tenure of the previous Executive Officers and was aimed at ensuring continuity and effective administration of the Forum.

In a statement signed by Venerable Richard Peters, Secretary of the Board of Trustees/Governing Council, and Comrade Joseph Okon, Chairman of the Board, the organisation congratulated all the newly elected officers.

The Board urged them to conduct themselves in accordance with the Constitution, policies and decisions of the Forum, as well as directives issued by the Board of Trustees/Governing Council.

It specifically charged the new officers to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, commitment, discipline and respect for the collective interests of the Forum.

The Board also appealed to members to cooperate with the new executive and provide the support necessary for the leadership to achieve its objectives.

The new administration has a wide-ranging structure covering ICT, new media, content development, ethics and professional standards, programmes, print media, electronic media, visuals, research and analytics, strategy, mobilisation and external relations.

Among the officers responsible for these areas are Mr. Richard Okon, Director of New Media; Mr. Destiny Young, Director of ICT; Anamati Inyang, Director of Content; Comrade Henshaw Nyong, Director of Ethics and Professional Standards; and Mr. Cavil Uduak Inwang, Director of Research and Analytics.

The Forum also appointed officers to drive print, electronic and visual media operations, reflecting the organisation’s focus on strengthening professional coordination across different media platforms.

The Board expressed confidence that the new leadership would build on the achievements of previous administrations while promoting unity, growth and a stronger professional identity for media practitioners within the Uyo Senatorial District.

The newly elected officers are expected to assume their respective responsibilities forthwith.
