Alleged PFIPC DG Adeniyi Adeyemi to Face Trial Over Eight-Count Forgery, Impersonation Charges

The Nigeria Police Force has filed an eight-count criminal charge against the convener of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, over allegations of forgery, conspiracy and impersonation.
Adeyemi is scheduled to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 27, 2027, to answer the charges brought against him by the police.
According to the charge marked and filed by the Directorate of Legal Services at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, Adeyemi was arraigned alongside two other suspects identified only as Femi and Anu, whose surnames were listed as “unknown” and who are said to be at large.
The charge, signed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki on November 27, 2025, accuses the defendants of conspiring to forge official presidential documents and unlawfully presenting themselves as officials of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.
The police alleged that the defendants forged an appointment letter purportedly issued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and bearing the signature of the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Investigators further alleged that the defendants forged presidential letterheads and several official documents purportedly originating from the State House, including requests for collaboration on land acquisition and office allocation across the 36 states, applications for office space, staff account approvals, and a document relating to the take-off of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.
The police also accused Adeyemi of falsely presenting himself between 2024 and 2025 as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, an offence alleged to constitute impersonation under the Penal Code.
The criminal charges include one count of conspiracy, six counts of forgery under the Miscellaneous Offences Act, and one count of impersonation.
The prosecution’s case follows earlier disclosures by the Presidency that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, alerted the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force in October 2025 after complaints emerged about the activities of the purported council, which allegedly operated alongside the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).
According to the Presidency, forged appointment letters allegedly bearing Gbajabiamila’s signature, official reference numbers and government seals were being used to confer legitimacy on the organisation.
Adeyemi has denied all allegations, insisting that he committed no offence and would defend himself during the trial.
The Federal High Court is expected to commence proceedings on the matter when the case comes up on July 27, 2027.
